STREETCORNER HAPPENINGS, NOVEMBER 3, 2014

Welcome to the 5th edition of our new blog.
"STREETCORNER HAPPENINGS"

It is always my pleasure to bring to you all of the newest and most up to date happenings for our favorite classic MoTown and Doo Wop group.

I'm Jackie and I just want to tell you that while it isn't easy selecting selecting the best pictures, or capturing all of the moments on film, it really is inspiring writing this blog every week.  I have the greatest respect and love for each and every member of our family group, STREETCORNER.
Unique, dedicated, talented, and passionate are four of the adjectives I can easily use to describe each personality.

Last Saturday, November 1,  STREETCORNER was at Airway Lanes in Waterford.
Can you say.....   OH WHAT A NIGHT?
We were....DANCIN IN THE STREET.............well not exactly in the street, but certainly all over the dance floor.

How awesome to have a following of friends that are more than willing to drive long distances just to spend the evening with us.

Here are a few pictures of some of our dear friends that bore the chilly weather, battled the falling leaves and took the leap to come out to see us.

Here we have our very own "The lovely Evelyn" chatting with my sweet and dear friend Jan Pankoff.

Breni Whitehead and Jan are great supporters of STREETCORNER and awesome dance partners for me, Jackie while my Bob Carroll is singing.

We love these ladies.  Thanks for spending your evening with us.

Did you know that Bob and I won a "Dance Contest" once?  The funny thing is that we didn't even know we had entered it until they announced that Couple #1 was the winner.  Wow, that was us.

Well, back to the present.............................

Did I mention that Chuck Runyon AKA a former member of STREETCORNER came out on Saturday to Airway Lanes?   Hey, this guy can really sing.
He jumped in to sing "Don't Play it No More" with the group and as Dan would say "Owned It".
Chuck is another talented performer that is not only gifted but a great man as well.
It's a pleasure to know him.

STREETCORNER AT THEIR VERY FINEST.

THE MAGNIFICENT EVELYN  -  ALWAYS AT HER BEST.

This coming Saturday, Nov. 8, STREETCORNER has the proud honor of being selected to be one of the featured groups for the M. F. E. A. convention.  This is the 22nd annual Michigan Festivals and Events Association Convention.  The event will be located in Kalamazoo and we will be part of the
Entertainment Showcase.  It's an enormous  honor to be selected as part of this prestigious two day event.  Although it's not open for the public, you can be sure that I will bring you all the skinny on how it went and some photo's ,................if  I'm allowed to bring my camera into the Showcase.

Have a wonderful week and I look forward to bringing you the highlights from the Michigan Festivals and Events Association Convention.

  1. It was great to see Butch there.
We all still love Butch, and we wanted to hug him, but he's still tender after breaking a couple ribs recently.

Butch is retired, both from his job with Oakland County Road Commission and from STREETCORNER. He still performs, though, and a singer / songwriter / guitar player. He's pretty much straight Country music, though these days. He has done quite well as a solo artist. What's most important, though, in my opinion, is that he does music on his own terms. He performs when and where he wants to and does the kind of music he wants. His original songs are often 'story' songs. They are sometimes autobiographical in nature as he writes about growing up poor in West Virginia, family, war veterans, and genealogy. If you know Butch and want to follow him, his facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/ButchRunyon?fref=ts
